This year for Lent – Give Up an Hour

Plan to stay for the hour following worship each week to stay and consider what
you’ve heard and felt together with the Garden Street Community. Mark your
calendars NOW for Sundays February 22- March 29 to stay until 4:45.

Here are the details:
Pastor Justin’s theme for Lenten sermons will be “Roll Down Justice” focusing on
our call to “do justice” in scripture and our commitment to act on that call made
at our baptism. He will challenge us with a question to consider at the close of
each sermon.

We see so much injustice these days – in the world, in our nation and here in
Bellingham. We can’t help but notice. We wonder, “How can I make a difference
in situations that are intrenched in our culture or seem too big for me to engage?”
We can’t do it alone! We need each other in this undertaking.

This year, let’s engage our challenges and reflect on the week’s scripture together following worship. We’ll meet around the tables in the social hall during the fellowship time and respond to the question Pastor Justin has given us. (Grab a cup of coffee and a cookie on your way to a table!) As we discuss, listen and pray together, who knows where the Holy spirit might lead us?

Faithful Resistance: A Public Witness for Immigrant Justice

Pastor Justin along with 3 Wesley Club Members, Noah Martin, Malia Fraser, and Evan Redman will be flying to DC to take part in the Faithful Resistance March from Feb 23rd to the 26th. To learn more about what they will be doing you can view their Itinerary HERE. To help relieve the burden on our Wesley members, Garden Street UMC will be covering the cost of the flights and rooms. If you would like to help cover food and emergency expenses you can write a check to Garden Street UMC with "DC March" or "Faithful Resistance" in the Memo line and place it into the offering plate on Sunday during Worship, or mail it to Garden Street UMC, PO Box 308, Bellingham WA 98227.
