All are welcome to join our teacher Melissa for online Sunday School during the period of time that we're not meeting in person due to coronavirus! Weekly lessons include a story, questions, and craft/activity, and are geared toward children ages 4-10. Access the videos anytime here:

Children's Ministry

Our congregation believes that children are the future and appreciates their high energy, loud voices, and endless curiosity. We are committed to teaching them to love all people, God, and the world.

We serve children from birth to 5th grade through our Sunday School program and nursery (see below).

Families with babies are welcome to use our Family Room with the worship service streaming on a TV. Nursing chairs and a diaper changing station are available in the Family Room.

Sunday School

Children ages 4-10 years (pre-school through 5th grade) are invited to join us for Sunday School.

Childcare is available for younger children (birth to age 3).

The children are encouraged to join their families for the beginning of the worship service, participate in the Children's Message, and then go to the Sunday School room/nursery for the remainder of the service.

Please check your child in with the Sunday School staff prior to the 10 AM service.

Sunday School Curriculum

Our Sunday School curriculum is centered on diverse children's books and illustrated Bible stories. Lessons reflect our values of kindness, inclusivity and respect for all people, learning about Jesus' teachings, and knowing God's unconditional love for us.

Each Sunday includes:

  • Reading a children's book or Bible story
  • Talking about applications for our own lives
  • Relating to the story through an activity or game
  • A theme-based craft

Garden Street Kid Events

Throughout the year, our church hosts various family friendly events to encourage fellowship among the children and their parents. Join us for one of the fun events!

Easter Egg Hunt

Join us for our annual Easter Egg Hunt after the worship service on Easter Sunday! Eggs are hidden throughout the playground (or church basement in inclement weather) and all kids will be successful in finding eggs and goodies! In 2020, join us online for an at-home Easter scavenger hunt or another fun activity! A video with more info will be available here:

Trunk or Treat

Our annual Trunk or Treat takes place in the parking lot behind the church with congregation members decorating their trunks in a variety of themes for the kids to trick or treat from.

Christmas Crafts Party

This fun filled afternoon is for families to make crafts to celebrate Jesus’ birth! We enjoy chili, hot chocolate, and cookies while making crafts to decorate our homes in preparation for Christmas.

Please contact Melissa if you are interested in volunteering to impact the lives of children at Garden Street UMC!
